Umay lets a parent or guardian record a short sample of their own voice, creates a private narrator voice from it, and uses it to read a curated library of classic children's stories at bedtime. This page answers the most common questions and explains how to get help.
When you write in, it helps to include your device model, your iOS version, and a short description of what happened. If something went wrong on a specific screen, a screenshot speeds things up.
Open the app and follow the voice setup. You record a short sample of yourself reading a passage aloud, then Umay builds a private voice that narrates stories. You should only record your own voice, or the voice of someone who has agreed to be recorded.
Record in a quiet room, hold the phone a hand's width from your mouth, and read at a natural, unhurried pace. Make sure Umay has microphone permission in Settings → Umay → Microphone. You can re-record or delete a voice at any time from the app's narration settings.
Umay subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. To view, change, or cancel a subscription, open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, and select Umay. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the current billing period. Refund requests are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase, then use Restore Purchases in the app's settings. If it still does not unlock, email us with the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
You are always in control. Inside the app you can delete an individual narrator voice, and you can delete your entire account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your voice model, your voice sample and generated audio, your account record, and all local data on the device. You can also email us to request deletion. Umay is rated 4+ and is designed to be set up and operated by a parent or guardian. A child's name and any photos you add stay on your device and are never uploaded. There is no third-party advertising and no cross-app tracking. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Umay runs on iPhone and iPad. For the best experience, keep your device on a recent version of iOS or iPadOS and keep the app updated through the App Store.
Check your internet connection, since narration is generated and streamed. If a story stalls, close and reopen it, or restart the app. If the problem continues, email us with the story title and what you saw.
